Andon Labs' AI-run cafe in Stockholm orders 120 eggs, no stove
Andon Labs deployed an AI system called Mona to manage inventory and ordering for a Stockholm cafe—following their earlier AI-run retail experiment in San Francisco.
Early results are chaotic in ways that reveal gaps between training data and real constraints: Mona ordered 120 eggs despite no kitchen stove, suggested cooking them in a high-speed oven (they'd explode), and stockpiled 22.5 kg of canned tomatoes for fresh sandwiches.
Staff created a “Hall of Shame“ shelf—visible to customers—displaying the most absurd orders, including 6,000 napkins and 3,000 of something else.
